[4/23/2011 11:46:13 AM] Lansana Juana: You are a big artist in Sierra Leone, don’t you think that if there is no relavant reason for why you are not coming will creat some bad feelings for people that one to see you live
[4/23/2011 11:49:13 AM] Lansana Juana: I read one of the online news papers trying to say that you are not coming, but with no proper explanation
[4/23/2011 11:50:50 AM] ALONZO ABASI: Well,i was in total readiness to be part of the events cause it’s actually an historic one that every Sierra Leonean should be proud of but imagine a situation where am investing so much money single handedly on my projects and some people don’t wonna accept the fact that it’s no child’s play
[4/23/2011 11:54:57 AM] ALONZO ABASI: first i was told that everything is under control and was only waiting for the Government to release the funds. last minute, i was told that the money the Government gave was not enough so i should buy my own ticket and go do it for the country.
[4/23/2011 11:55:15 AM] Lansana Juana: What you are writing is what I’m going to let it be published, and I have my own online news paper, which I’m going to publish first.
[4/23/2011 11:59:47 AM] ALONZO ABASI: i love the country, that’s why i choosed to be part of this special occasion. I was given good offers by promoters in Australia,Canada,UK,and Dubai to celebrate the independence with them but a national call to me is very important but when disrespect comes in it actually not worth it.
[4/23/2011 12:00:46 PM] Lansana Juana: what do you mean by disrespect?
[4/23/2011 12:01:49 PM] Lansana Juana: You are doing this to update your fans, so that people will not tell lies about you in the way that will make fans discourage about you
[4/23/2011 12:02:23 PM] Lansana Juana: Because I’m here, and I’m hearing so many things about coming not coming
[4/23/2011 12:06:01 PM] ALONZO ABASI: The head of the Entertainment committee after previously telling me about the plans and told me not to take an offer from 23-27 April cause everything is set and the funds will be out soon later told me that i should buy my own ticket and go down on credit. He said i should pay for my own ticket and i take that as an insult
[4/23/2011 12:09:48 PM] ALONZO ABASI: why shoud i do dat in the first place?
[4/23/2011 12:11:42 PM] ALONZO ABASI: Am sure arrangements were finalized with the artists they’re bringing from Nigeria so why my own situation has to be different?
[4/23/2011 12:12:38 PM] ALONZO ABASI: All i can say is dat, am not disappointed at all cause this has been an everyday story.
[4/23/2011 12:13:03 PM] Lansana Juana: ok
[4/23/2011 12:14:07 PM] ALONZO ABASI: To my fans who’ve been waiting to see me, i am sorry about the development but Sierra Leone is ours so lets come together and make it a better place for us all.

Why the black out?
The Freetown city is fast becoming darker than it ever was, as a result of the electricity supply shortage that has rocked the city for the past two months now.
Reports have it that the southern city of Bo and the eastern city of Kenema are experiencing similar situations. As all of this is happening, the ruling All People’s Congress (APC), which had widely trumpeted the return of electricity supply to the country, remained silent on the recent development.
The silence from the government has left people with the option of speculating on what is responsible for the electricity outage. It is widely being rumored that the Bumbuna Hydro Electric Dam has developed some serious mechanical problem, as a result of the failure of the present government to heed technicians’ advice. Due to the dries, experts are said to have advised that the dam be shut down to avoid damage since the water level in the dam had considerably reduced. The government refused the advice thus the present damage which they are refusing to tell the people about.
At a time like this when the country is celebrating 50 years of independence, the APC government has come under incessant lambasting for plunging the Freetown city into total darkness.
Several people have expressed fear that the situation will continue unaddressed until after independence celebrations since the government is yet to be seen making any realistic effort to right the wrongs.
Several people are now reverting to generators and similar machines that were sometime back dubbed Kabbah will soon be called Koroma Tiger.
SIERRA LEONE AT 50 ” TO CELEBRATE OR NOT TO CELEBRATE”?
This is a critical question now going round about the 50th independent anniversary celebration in Sierra Leone. This is a remarkable day to celebrate, but, who, how and where are we going to celebrate this important day in our life.
Why are we celebrating, who are to celebrate this day and why are they suppose to celebrate?

Taia Lion Resources Retains Javelin Partners as Corporate Development Advisors
New York, New York (JAVELIN – April 20, 2011) — Taia Lion Resources Inc (the “Company” or “TLR”) is pleased to announce the commencement of a 12 month engagement wherein Javelin Corporate Development Partners Inc. (“Javelin” or “Javelin Partners”) will serve as a corporate development and investor relations consultant to the Company. Javelin will provide several services including: corporate strategy development, financial forecasting, creation of marketing materials, news flow planning, investor relations consulting, and other mining-related corporate development responsibilities.
Taia Lion Resources was established in 2011, through Taia LLC’s (“Taia”) acquisition of Lion Mining Company (“LMC”). Taia LLC was founded in 2003 by award-winning actor Jeffrey Wright and retired US Army Brigadier General Larry Gilespie with a view to implement a sustainable and commercially viable mining model to promote long-term economic growth for both shareholders and community. Taia acquired two gold exploration licences for concessions at Sandaru and Pujehun, in 2004, and a third, at Gori Hills Central, in 2010. Additionally, a not-for-profit arm of Taia, The Taia Peace Foundation, was established in 2007 to address the social development needs of the communities in which Taia was exploring. LMC has been actively involved in Sierra Leone’s mining sector for over 20 years, bringing significant operational expertise as well as exploration and mining licences to Lake Sonfon. Taia Lion Resources now has an exciting geological portfolio, with the right platform in place for growth, expansion and value enhancement.
“We are pleased to have the support of Javelin Partners. We believe strongly that our project in Sierra Leone holds considerable value for international investors and the local community alike. Javelin’s assistance in communicating our story will be crucial to the development and evolution of our Company,” says co-founder, Jeffrey Wright, Golden Globe and Emmy award winner.
Darin Milmeister, Javelin Principal adds, “TLR’s promising geology, coupled with a strong commitment to corporate responsibility in Sierra Leone effectively captures Javelin’s core philosophy about the opportunity that modern mining creates for developing countries. We look forward to building on the expertise resident within TLR’s members as we work together to cultivate what could be a financially lucrative and value enhancing project.”
TLR is currently focused on its ongoing exploration program, which is already yielding positive geological results. Concurrently, the Company is actively pursuing other strategic alliances and opportunities which should be accretive to TLR’s overall portfolio.

Human Right Abuse in Sierra Leone on the Increase
The swollen body of madam Yeanoh Bangura of First Street at Kissy, Freetown, was found lying on the street early Monday morning as she was left naked with a long stick found in her virgina and blood running all over her face.
Sources have it that the victim,Yeanoh Bangura, has over the past weeks been in serious conflict with her husband, Sitta Samura, who is currently in detention at the Kissy Police station in connection with the matter, despite his denial of having any idea of his wife’s inhuman treatement.
According to the victim’s son, Alpha Kargbo who returned to his mother’s home on Sunday evening after staying away for some days, explained that his step-Father has for some time been threatening his mother for something he did not know.
The victim, was however rushed to the Rokupa Government Hospital but later referred to the Connaught Hospital due to the seriousness of her case after excessive bleeding and the sustainance of some injury both on her feet and body, the Doctor’s report stated, adding that there is no certainty of her survival, considering the gravity of her tital unconsciousness.
According to the Kissy Local Policing Patnership Board Chairman,Mr Med Kay,who rescued the victim to the Rokupa Hospital, he maintained that on receiving the information that a woman has been mercilessly beaten with fire-wood and other dangerous weapons, he was tipped that some of the suspected agents had flee the environment of the incident but the home of the husband later was condommed by the police. The matter is under police investigations as the husband has been detaned
The Beginning of Bad politics in Africa
Reports monitored from Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone, indicate that former President of the recently dissolved Students Union government of the college, Alfred Minkailu Koroma (Jnr.), was mercilessly beaten to coma in the evening hours of Wednesday 13th April 2011 by unknown people.
It remains unclear whether or not the assault that left Koroma hospitalized has anything to do with the political standoff that marred the students’ body two weeks ago.
Former Deputy Minister of Information of the students’ body, Dauda Musa Bangura, told the Awareness Times in a telephone interview that the attack on Koroma has nothing to do with the recent disagreement on campus.
“Although I am yet to be fully briefed, information gathered so far indicates that the attack had to do with some personal issues between the victim and his attackers,” he said.
He furthered that the ordeal of Minkailu Koroma started on Sunday 10thApril at the Lumley Beach in Freetown. “He received a slap from a member of a rival camp for making sarcastic comments against the latter while on leisure relaxation at the beach,” Bangura said, but hastened to note that it remained unclear whether what happened on Wednesday night was an aftermath of the Sunday fracas.
All efforts to reach Minkailu Mansaray yesterday for comments proved unsuccessful. He was unable to grant the Awareness Times an interview as he was seriously groaning in pain.
An anonymous caller told the Awareness Times on the night of the attack that the former president was attacked by his former ministers. But all the former ministers contacted debunked the allegation, saying they had nothing to do with the attack.
Meanwhile, Minkailu Koroma has recovered from coma and gradually responding to treatment, the Awareness Times learnt last night.
